Revelation 22 and The Book of Mormon

Here is the scripture:

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

What many people think the scripture means:

Do not add anything to the Bible. Only the books from Genesis to Revelation are scripture. Everything else is hoopla.

The problem with this is that the Bible was not written like a book from start to finish. And Revelation was not the last book ever written that we read in the Bible. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to think that John was saying "Don't add to the Bible."  What he was saying is that no one should add or subtract from the Book of Revelation.

The other problem is that the Bible never makes the claim that God will never speak to mankind through prophets or apostles again. And it never claims to be all inclusive. At least explicitly. People can make inferences and extrapolations... but how can anyone be sure that their belief is right if it isn't spelled out in the Bible? Think about it.
